Caro Walford - Founder and UK Director
I worked as a Chartered Physiotherapist for 34 years, 21 of them running my own Practice which I retired from in 2003. I started The Changarawe Project after visiting my daughter in Changarawe Village in 1997 and am retiring as Director and Chair of Trustees at the end of May 2010,after which I will become President of the charity and a member of the board of Trustees. I have loved everything about becoming a small part of a Tanzanian village and will continue to visit as much as I can. I feel very confident that my successor, Luke Edwards-Stuart will do an excellent job.

Luke Edwards-Stuart
The new Chair of Trustees is to be Luke Edwards-Stuart, who at the time of writing, is in
Changarawe discussing the strategic plan for the next 12 months with Felistas and the rest of our
team.
“My love for Tanzania started as a VSO volunteer in Mzumbe Secondary School, where I spent two happy
years as a Chemistry teacher from September 1996 to October 1998. I have been teaching in London since
1998 and am currently the Director of Sixth Form at Paddington Academy, a new school which serves a
socially disadvantaged and very culturally diverse community in West London.
I joined the board of trustees of the Changarawe Project in August 2006, having just completed an MA in
Education and International Development. I take over as chair of the UK board in June 2010"

Michael Robarts - Finance Director
Our finance Director will continue to be Trustee Michael Robarts who has done a superb job since
helping to establish our charitable status in 2003.
"Coming from a City background I was, as a Chartered Accountant, the natural choice to run the finances,
keeping the books and preparing the annual accounts. I have made two trips to Tanzania and work closely
with Mary Fulgence, our local book-keeper, who reports monthly to me with all cashflows, budgets etc."

Kate Willoughby
Kate Willoughby became a Trustee soon after her first visit to Changarawe with Rose in 2007. “I
was familiar with the charity since its inception having gone to school with Rose Walford and we were also at
university together. After graduating with a degree in Marketing and Spanish I went to NZ and studied a
Masters in International Business. I now work for Business in the Community, a charity that works with big
business to inspire, support and challenge them on their corporate responsibility My new role within the
Project is to be UK management and Fundraising Coordinator”.

Robert Watkinson
Robert Watkinson became a Trustee in 2003 when we first achieved charitable status. “In 1997
and 1998, I worked as a volunteer teacher at two schools in the Morogoro region of Tanzania and while
there I met Luke Edwards-Stuart, Eleanor Walford and Tatyana Eatwell. I graduated with a degree in
Physics and Philosophy and now work for Portland, a communications consultancy with offices in London and
Nairobi. I will lead on managing the Project's publicity and as assistant to Luke when needed”.

Rose Baylis
Rose Baylis (nee Walford) was also one of our original Trustees. She graduated with a degree in
Nursing and now works as a Senior Staff Nurse in neuro-intensive care at the John Radcliffe
Hospital. She is currently on maternity leave following the birth of her son, Bear, in January. “I
first went to Changarawe when I was 16 and my sister Eleanor was living there, so I have been involved with
the charity right from the start. As a Trustee, I have visited Tanzania twice and have a particular interest
in health-care and nutrition. I will continue with this role as well as giving general help where needed”.

Tatyana Eatwell
Tatyana Eatwell became a trustee of The Changarawe Project after visiting the Zawadi School
with Caro Walford in 2008 and 2009.She is a barrister specialising in criminal law and human
rights. “I first visited Eleanor Walford in Changarawe Village in 1997 when working as a teacher in
Tanzania during my gap year before university. I have a Masters in Anthropology from Manchester
University and previously worked in documentary film production. Since then I have maintained links with
Tanzania, and have lived and worked in the Eastern and Southern regions of Africa on human rights based
projects. In addition to my responsibilities as a trustee I play a general advisory role to Project and am on
hand to contribute to the organisation of fundraising events as and when needed”.

Sarah Konopka
Sarah Konopka is our most recent Trustee appointment, following her work as our Credit Scheme
(micro-finance) advisor in Changarawe for 10 months in 2008-9 and we are delighted to welcome
her on board. “I am currently studying an MA at the Institute of Development Studies in Brighton and as
I am fluent in Swahili am working as a Swahili-English Interpreter with Sussex Interpreting Services, a
Brighton charity. Before coming to UK I was in Changarawe and I had previously been working locally in the
Community Development Department at the Morogoro Municipal Office for two years as an HIV/AIDS and
Community Health Education Volunteer with Peace Corps. Before moving to Tanzania, I worked at the U.S.
Trade and Development Agency in Washington DC for 18 months, providing support to three regions,
including Sub-Saharan Africa. I have a BA in English with an African Studies focus from George Washington
University. My role within the charity is as a general helper with expertise in HIV/AIDS and local
education”.
